Michael and Rachel’s handfasting ceremony – Old Sarum
The tradition of a Handfasting ceremony dates back to medieval times and was a formal promise or commitment to marry. It was a form of engagement after which, one year and one day later, the couple would formally marry. Michael is the the UK and grew up around Old Sarum and used to walk his dogs around the ruins of the old cathedral and Rachel is a history buff from the United States. In charge of the proceedings was the ever passionate and utterly unique Jane Arnold who is just always fantastic to watch working. I’ve asked Jane to do a guest blog post here soon, so you can learn more about what she does. Needless to say it was a very intimate and personal ceremony which drew a small crowd of dogwalkers who cheered and clapped once the couple had literally tied the knot. Michael and Rachel will be married at some point next year in the United States.
